For the OEM, the circular economy is not always a positive one. Despite many articles from leading institutions touting its positive impacts, case studies and further data supporting the circular economy model have largely: 1) been predicated on theoretical consequences, 2) stemmed from assumptions not robust enough, and 3) been one-dimensional research failing to account for negative indirect externalities.
